Wear and microstructural properties of Ni-B4C/CNF composites

The aim of this study is to investigate the microstructure and wear properties nickel (Ni) matrix boron carbide (B4C) carbon nanofiber (CNF)-reinforced composite materials. Microstructure phase composition composites manufactured by powder metallurgy (PM) method were determined SEM-EDS XRD analysis. While hardness values Vickers measurement method, their using pin-on-disc method. SEM images showed that B4C was homogeneously distributed, but CNF accumulated in some areas, even though it slight. Addition significantly increased it. increase quite high addition, slightly lower addition CNF. According results test carried out under dry conditions, reinforcement Ni reduced rate friction coefficient.
